Tenured/Tenure-Track: Assistant Professor or Associate Professor for Performance & Visual Studies

The School of Performance, Visualization & Fine Arts (PVFA) at Texas A&M University invites applications for one (1) tenure-track Assistant Professor or tenured Associate Professor (contingent on tenure review upon hire) depending on qualifications, with a full-time, nine-month academic appointment.
The start date for this position is Fall 2024.
The Section of Visual, Material & Performance Cultures seeks individuals to teach practices, theories, and methodologies in performance and/or visual studies.
Courses might include Introduction to Performance Studies, Introduction to Visual Studies, Research Methods, Public Scholarship, and seminars related to the candidates area of expertise.
Preference will be given to the most qualified candidates whose pedagogy integrates theory and practice.
We are particularly interested in candidates with an interdisciplinary background in fields such as:
media studies film studies art history ethnomusicology theatre dance In addition to the primary teaching responsibilities in the undergraduate and graduate programs, candidates are also expected to mentor students' creative and/or scholarly work, develop and foster new curricula, serve on school and/or university committees, and perform other duties as necessary.
The successful candidate will have a demonstrated record of teaching experience as well as an ability to teach both graduate and undergraduate level, mentor students creative and/or scholarly work, develop and foster new curricula.
The successful candidate will be expected to maintain an active research agenda, produce creative and/or scholarly work, serve on section, school, and/or university committees, and perform other duties related to teaching, research, and service as necessary.

The School of Performance, Visualization & Fine Arts is a new school within the Texas A&M University System and has a diverse and dynamic mission with 60 faculty and over 15 staff members and a projected exponential growth in the next five years.
The school was formed from three departments/programs spread across the university:
the Department of Visualization, the Department of Performance Studies, and the Dance Science Program.
The mission of PVFA places a heavy emphasis on faculty and student collaboration and interdisciplinary work in both scholarly and creative research.

Qualifications The position requires a completed Ph.
D.
degree in Performance Studies, Visual Studies, or related field.
Teaching experience is preferred.
